Call for Submissions: Glimpses: an evening of brief, passionate plays.

The Vagrancy, a Los Angeles-based theatre company known for its annual new play development series, which focuses on stories told primarily by women, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and artists with disabilities, 
invites submissions from local playwrights for its upcoming 10-Minute Play Festival. This event seeks to showcase Los Angeles writers' diverse voices and perspectives in a brief, highly-theatrical evening. 

Eligibility:
  • Open exclusively to Los Angeles-based playwrights
  • Plays must be original works not previously produced
  • Submissions should be around 10 minutes in length

Submission Guidelines:
  • Include one copy of your script.
  • Attach a playwright bio and a one-line synopsis of your play. 
  • There are no restrictions on theme or genre, although plays with 'duende' or heightened stakes will be prioritized. 
  • Email submissions to [email protected]

Submission Deadline and Dates:
  • Submissions must be received by July 15th, 2024
  • GLIMPSES is scheduled for performance in September 2024

Accolades and Past Programming:

In 2011, The Vagrancy assembled a Writers’ Group which has been active for the past thirteen years. Through this initiative, which draws together a new group of diverse writers each year, 55 new full length plays have been written. The plays have garnered awards and recognition including: O'Neill Finalist & Semi-Finalist status, David Henry Hwang Writers Institute Playwriting Scholarship, Relentless Award Finalist, Bay Area Playwrights Festival Finalist & Semi-Finalist, Seven Devils Playwrights Finalist, and American Blues Theater Blue Ink Award Semifinalist.
